Tyson Cafe-Ruoff

Hey! I’m Tyson, and I want to teach you how to scuba dive!

I've been hooked on the water for as long as I can remember. Growing up between Brazil and Canada, I spent my childhood watching my dad dive and tagging along whenever I could. Before I was even certified, I was already breathing from his alternate regulator during pool sessions and shallow beach dives. I was basically the family dive mascot.

I became a certified diver at 12 years old, and now, nearly three decades later, diving is still the thing I love most. As a teenager, I spent weekends exploring dive sites across Ontario, from Tobermory and Brockville to Kingston and the Niagara River. What started as a hobby quickly turned into a career.

After university, I spent six years traveling the world as a professional scuba instructor, teaching and diving in Honduras, Belize, Egypt, Zanzibar, the Bahamas, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic. With thousands of dives and hundreds of certifications, I’ve experienced many styles of diving, but the magic never changes — the feeling of breathing underwater, floating weightlessly, and exploring another world.

Today, back in Toronto, I continue teaching because introducing people to diving is one of the most rewarding experiences imaginable. My teaching style is calm, relaxed, and comfort-focused. When divers feel at ease, everything else falls into place naturally.

For me, scuba diving is the perfect combination of adventure, nature, and discovery. There’s nothing better than seeing someone experience the underwater world for the very first time — because once diving gets into your blood, it never really leaves.
