The Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating sets you apart as a dive instructor who takes continuing education seriously and is committed to teaching a variety of courses. (Potential employers like this.) Being an MSDT signifies that you’ve got the experience and certifications to offer all the training a diver needs to become a Master Scuba Diver – the ultimate recreational diver rating.
All Instructors who have certified at least 25 Divers and have earned at least five Specialty Instructor certifications can be Master Scuba Diver Trainers. This rating is the next step up the professional ladder and is a prerequisite for IDC Staff Instructor.

Specialty Instructor

Specialty instructor courses provide teaching tips and hands-on experience that you can implement right away. With 25 standard Specialty Diver courses, and numerous distinctive specialties, you have lots of choose from – so get going.
All Instructors will benefit from taking specialty instructor training courses, especially those who are ready to step up to the Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) rating, which requires at least five Specialty Instructor certifications.
Assistant Instructors, instructor candidates in training, and Divemasters are eligible to enroll in certain specialty instructor courses. Some specialties have additional prerequisites and exit requirements – ask our Course Director for details.

Instructor Development Course

The Instructor Development Course (IDC) is made up of two parts – the Assistant Instructor (AI) course and the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program. Most dive professionals complete the entire IDC and go on to attend an Instructor Examination (IE), which is the final step to earn an Instructor certification.
Successfully completing just the AI course results in an Assistant Instructor qualification. When an AI is ready to progress, attending an OWSI program allows entry into an IE to earn a full Instructor rating.

First Aid Instructor
$299.00 – $439.00CPR and first aid are key skills that are important to everyone, not just scuba divers. As a First Aid Instructor, you teach skills based on internationally recognized emergency care guidelines, and you can offer courses to anyone. The great thing about First Aid courses is they make learning easy by providing a comfortable environment to practice emergency care skills. Your students finish the course feeling confident with their new skills and ready to help someone in need.
The only requirements are that you’re at least 18 years old and have First Aid Primary and Secondary Care (CPR and First Aid) training within the past 24 months. A First Aid Instructor rating is required to become an Open Water Scuba Instructor, but you don’t have to wait until you’re ready to go pro. You can complete or refresh this training during your Instructor training.

Divemaster
$199.95 – $1,249.95Love scuba diving? Want to share it with others on a whole new level? Take the Divemaster course and do what you love to do as a career. Scuba divers look up to divemasters because they are leaders who mentor and motivate others. As a divemaster, you not only get to dive a lot, but also experience the joy of seeing others have as much fun diving as you do.
The Divemaster course is your first level of professional training. Working closely with an Instructor, you’ll fine-tune your dive skills, like perfecting the effortless hover, and refine your rescue skills so you anticipate and easily solve common problems. You’ll gain dive knowledge, management and supervision abilities so you become a role model to divers everywhere.
As a Divemaster, you’ll lead others as you supervise scuba diving activities and assist with diver training. Whether you want to work at a faraway dive destination or close to home at a local dive shop, the adventure of a lifetime awaits you.
Rescue Divers who are at least 18 years old may enroll in the Divemaster course. You also need to have:
- (CPR and First Aid) training within the past 24 months.
- A medical statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months.
- At least 40 logged dives to begin the course and 60 dives to earn certification.
Note that qualifying certifications from other diver training organization may apply – ask your Instructor.
Course Duration:
