Isn't Cuba in the Caribbean??

Best place is so subjective, so here are some good places.  My understanding is the best diving in Cuba is Cayo Largo (small island on the south side of Cuba)

Other good Caribbean places;
Roatan, Honduras - I've dove there and it's good.  We stayed at Fantasy Island
Cozumel, Mexico - I've dove there on a couple of dives and I'm going back in 2 weeks.
Grand Cayman (expensive)
Saba (close to Saint Maarten)
Belize
San Andres, Colombia

Hope that give you some help.

My wife and I really enjoy diving off San Andres Island. We've been there 4 times so far and are going back again in April. The water is fabulous. Super viz- 80-120' warm water 81 or so even at depth. Good walls and lots of fish and coral. Divers Team is the dive company we use and they are great. The island is wonderful as well. We have been to numerous other locations in the Carribean and off Panama in the Pacific and now keep going back to San Andres Island.

DiverDon,

Where in Panama did you dive?  I've dove in the Pacific off Panama at Isla Iguana and Isla Coiba.

Hey Ramblinpaul,
We have done a few dives from Contadora Island over the years. We felt that it wasn't as nice as the Carribbean for viz, temps, and sealife. One dive was very rough due to tidal currents. Had to hold on to the bottom at one time to wait for some wayward divers. Cancelled another dive after ten or fifteen ft. due to a plankton bloom and 0 viz. It's also quite a bit colder water. It was nice to dive somewhere different though. We really enjoyed the snorkelling around the island as well. I believe the resort on Contadora is not open to the public right now as Donald Trump has interest there and it may be attached to the soon-to-be Trump Towers in Panama City.

Hey Don,

Yeah, I don't think that part of the Pacific has anywhere near the viz of many places in the Caribbean.

As mentioned we did Isla Coiba (remote and beautiful) and Isla Iguana a little less remote and also beautiful.  Both places are off (Coiba far off) the beaten path with a wonderful absence of luxury hotels.

Keep diving safe!!
